What is Brickle

Introduction

The Brickle is a beautifully formed (we think!) chest of drawers, designed for your LEGO collection, that does a lot more than its solid good looks lets on. It's been made with love and science to a particular job - encouraging creative building.

Let us show you around.

Playdeck

On top theres a playdeck for building, testing, smashing and sorting. Create to your hearts content, knowing that with the little wall all around the playdeck your pieces won't be falling off the edges.

If you need to clear all your LEGO, sort your pieces so that tomorrow your inspiration can get straight back to work.

Talking of sorting....

Sorting

To get the most out of your Brickle we recommend sorting your collection into five (three for a Bach) colour groups of roughly equal size. Once done you simply sweep each pile through a corresponding drop holes.

Sorting into colour groups isn't mandatory, but it does help cut down even more the time you'll spend looking for pieces...

Filtering

You probably wont see much of them, but these holes are how Brickle splits your LEGO collection, into big, medium and small pieces. The exact configuration, dimension and shape of these holes was one of the most tested aspects of the design!

So your larger pieces stay at the top, your mid size pieces in the middle and your smaller pieces fall through to the bottom drawer...

... It's not full proof. There will always be a few small pieces that evade the holes! But overtime and use, the vast majority fall through.

Special Pieces

Introduced in our 3rd iteration of the Brickle design the special pieces drawer has been a firm favourite with children ever since.

The 41 compartments (23 in a Bach) of varying sizes give every child, (and a few adults!), their dream space for all their special pieces.

Additionally we added shelves and stools for extra display space of 'creations' and comfort during use.

Design

There are many many small touches incorporated into each iteration of the design. These were all based on feedback from the thousands of hours our families (and those of testers) have cumulatively spent playing at them. Here's a few:

- Chamfering the drawer edges to ensure that when lower drawers are fully extended pieces from above can't stray.

- Teflon runners on the lowest drawer, protecting nice floors.

- Reducing the height of the compartment walls in the middle section of the special pieces drawer to enable access to small pieces.

Materials

Other than the drawer runners and the above mentioned Teflon the entire Brickle is made from premium grade European Birch Plywood.

This, together with its packaging is sustainably sourced and FSC certified. Birch grows best in the colder climates of the far north. Read a great blog post here by Rafa Kids on Finnish Plywood.

We use Birch Ply in 24mm, 18mm, 9mm, 6mm and even 4mm. We love it for its amazing strength and beauty.

Build together

The result (we think!) is a piece of luxury furniture that looks equally at home in a playroom as it does in a sitting room or open plan kitchen.

This was important to us as some of our families fondest memories were forged around our early prototypes, co-creating crazy LEGO builds and seeing our children's imaginations develop.

We'd love you to build your own families memories around yours.
