At Brickle, safety isn’t an afterthought — it’s part of our design process from the very first sketch. Every product is carefully reviewed, tested, and finished to meet or exceed UK and EU safety standards for
children’s furniture.

Designed for Safe Play

Our products are made for families, not factories. That means we think about what happens in real homes — from climbing toddlers to curious siblings.

Each design is assessed under the UK General Product Safety Regulations 2005 and the EU General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988.
For children’s seating, we also follow EN 17191:2021, the European safety standard for children’s furniture.

Every piece is risk-assessed to check for tip-overs, trapped fingers, sharp edges, and stability, with safety built in at every stage.

Safe Natural Materials

All Brickle products are made from FSC-certified birch plywood, chosen for strength, durability, and sustainability.

We only use REACH-compliant finishes, meaning they meet strict European standards on chemical safety.

Water-based lacquer or paint from Symphony Coatings — non-toxic and child-safe

Natural wax blend (beeswax, carnauba wax, orange oil) for end-grain protection
- Used only on external, non-mouth-contact areas  
- Air-cured for at least five days before packaging

All surfaces are smooth and sealed. Edges are gently rounded or chamfered to remove any sharpness.

Brickle and Brickle Bach

The Brickle is a furniture piece designed for sorting and storing LEGO® — it’s not a toy itself.

Safety information:

For children aged 4 years and older 

Includes wall-mounting brackets to prevent tipping

Internal drawer chamfers reduce finger-trap risks

All edges are hand-finished and smooth

Maximum load: 20 kg on the uppermost drawer when extended. Lower drawers can withstand 60kgs+

All finishes are fully cured and safe for use in the home.

Brickle Nesting Stools

Our Nesting Stools are designed for children aged 4+ to use for seated play or alongside their Brickle.

Safety highlights:
Tested in-house to EN 17191:2021
Maximum load: 100 kg (static)
All edges rounded
Openings adjusted to avoid finger or head entrapment
Not to be used as a step stool or climbing aid
Use only on a flat, stable surface

Each stool is aired and fully cured before packaging to ensure a safe, odour-free finish

Every Brickle product comes with a Declaration of Conformity, confirming it meets all relevant UK and EU regulations.
